What if? (Non-TCG Related)
Disclaimer: Something happened to me a few days ago that got me thinking about something and I’ve decided to share it with you all. This thing has absolutely nothing to do with Trading Card Games or Board Games so I though I should write up a disclaimer. Sorry for any inconvenience, hope you enjoy it though.
Its amazing how one little question can rattle your brain for your whole life isn’t it? That’s the basis of humanity though, in trying to figure out things such as why we are here and the great meaning to life. But what if we had the chance to know the answer to that question and the opportunity just slid past our hands, that’s where the real tragedy lies. Having to think to yourself “things could’ve been different if” and “I should’ve”. I also have come to realize that it is better to hear the answer you are dreading than not knowing which answer could pop up and just think about it your whole life. The idea of living against this is what we all know today as carpe diem.
We fear being haunted by things such as ghosts, demons, and stalkers, but quite possibly the worst thing to be haunted by is our own thoughts. If you think back to a time in your life when you had an opportunity to do something potentially great but were afraid of failing, did you just let it slide? If so, does it still haunt you to this day? I can say from experience that going through that for three years can eat away at a person’s soul. Sadly there is only one cure to this terrible disease, no matter what situation it is. You have to suck it up, and just do it; it’s the only thing that will allow you to rest easy.
The reason we fear doing things like this so much is that we dread the wrong answer or outcome. Then we can only go to think, what’s worse: being tortured your entire life by what could’ve been or finding out what you feared it would be? The latter answer is only temporary where as the stress will stick with you, so the answer is obvious in that regard (the temporary option may be a bit more lasting in some cases). Plus, you should always worry about the negative aspect of it there’s always the chance that your preferred outcome will happen, and more than often it does.
There’s an idea of thinking for living life in the way I just described, it’s a little idea known as carpe diem. It means to literally “seize the day”, and to live each moment as if it were your last. Over thinking and analyzing ever little thing only prolongs the greatness that is life. You can’t expect everything to come to you automatically, you need to work for it in order to obtain it. That is how society itself has functioned all the way from the past and to the future.
In the end, the choice is yours alone; no one can make it for you. You need to think about whether you really want to become a more confident person (or if you already are) and what you could do to obtain that confidence. If you expect to become a better person and obtain more in life, then you need to learn to seize the day and live each moment till the end.
